SEPT/OCT NEWS!

Joby is the 30th Dog to be Released by Chainfree Bristol!

This month Liza and Ada, Chainfree Bristol Volunteers, along with the pet owner, secured an existing fenced enclosure to make sure Joby could not escape… allowing him to be released from the chain. Joby is a four year old mixed breed pup who is now enjoying his unchained running space!

  • Charlie, you make 31!

Chainfree Bristol Re-homes Charlie…   Chain Free!

Charlie, a black Lab mix, had been chained for 5 of his 6 years! The elderly owner could no longer care for Charlie… so Chainfree Bristol found Charlie an new chain free home. The new owner keeps Charlie indoors, allows him to sleep on her bed, ride in her car and reports that Charlie is a great companion!

  • RECENT LEGISLATION (sweeping America…)

This month, two more York County, PA municipalities have passed an SPCA-endorsed ordinance that makes it illegal to tether dogs that spend their entire lives outdoors. Now in West Borough and Heidelberg Township, owners of “24/7 outside dogs” will either have to build fenced enclosures or take the dogs inside regularly. The ordinance prohibits the owners of domestic animals from tying them up outside and leaving them unattended.

Need low cost spay/neuter services in order to qualify for a free fenced enclosure from Chainfree Bristol? In Sullivan County, contact…                      sullivanhumanesociety@gmail.com.     Just fill out a form. Dogs $30, Cats $20.

Chained dogs need fences, need attention, and of course, need a law to prevent them from ever going back on the chain.  We have seen cases of dogs giving birth on the chain, dogs severely disabled, dogs starving, dogs with chains embedded in their necks, dogs with ground down teeth, dogs with infections from parasites, dogs with feces all over them, dogs who cowered as they became more and more broken, dogs with aggressive attitudes, dogs who only want to be loved.  You can help! Join Chainfree Bristol today and make a change in your community!  Go to chainfreebristol.org or contact your City Council Members!!!

Join CHAINFREE BRISTOL!

Chainfree Bristol is dedicated to banning the lifetime, unattended chaining or tethering of dogs. Our goals include education and ordinance development.  Building fences demonstrates an acceptable alternative to chaining or tethering a dog.

Here’s How You Can Help:
1. Contribute time and work.  Volunteer to help build fences for folks who would let their dog off the chain if they had an appropriately fenced area in their yard. Materials and direction to be furnished by Chainfree Bristol.

2. Contribute money.   Chainfree Bristol is a non profit organization Chartered by the State of  TN and NOW HAS a 501-C-3 tax exempt status.

Please support us in this grassroots effort, by sending your tax deductible  contributions to Chainfree Bristol.   P. O. Box 681 Bristol, TN 37621 or go to chainfreebristol.org

100% of the funds you contribute will go towards fencing materials to release chained or tethered dogs. For more info contact:  Liza Conway at liza@chainfreebristol.org or 423-534-9755.
